Hot Aisle Containment

Hot Aisle Containment (HAC) works by isolating the return air (hot air) from the server so that it does not mix with the supply air (cool air) from the cooling unit.

All return air (hot air) from the server is recirculated back into the return duct of the cooling unit.

In HAC, the area above the rack is usually covered with a vertical partition up to the data center ceiling.

Cold Aisle Containment

Cold Aisle Containment (CAC) works by isolating the supply air (cold) from the cooling unit so that it remains near the air inlet of the server and ICT devices, preventing it from mixing with the exhaust air (hot) from the devices.

All return air (hot) from the servers can flow throughout the room.

In CAC, the area above the rack is usually covered with horizontal and vertical partitions.
